PARAJANOV.com – Martin Scorsese introduces the restored Sayat Nova (The Color of Pomegranates) at TIFF
Parajanov-Vartanov Institute attended the North American premiere of Sergei Parajanov’s restored masterpice The Color of Pomegranates at the Toronto International Film Festival where it was introduced by Martin Scorsese. Parajanov-Vartanov Institute’s founder Martiros Vartanov worked with The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project, headed by Mr. Scorsese, and Cineteca di Bologna’s L’Immagine Ritrovata, on the restoration of Sergei Parajanov’s magnum opus after their chance meeting at the Busan International Film Festival‘s Parajanov and Vartanov film and art retrospective.

PARAJANOV.com – The Color of Pomegranates/TIFF

 

The restored Color of Pomegranates premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, as well as with Mikhail Vartanov’s Parajanov: The Last Spring at Italy’s esteemed 28th Il Cinema Ritrovato Film Festival, and Yerevan Film Festival. The Academy of Motion Pictures (AMPAS) will screen the digitally restored masterpiece at the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art (LACMA) in September, New York Film Festival and BFI London Film Festival in October.
