The legendary filmmaker Sergei Parajanov visited New York Film Festival with his film Ashik Kerib in 1988. In 2014, NYFF premiered Paradjanov’s restored Sayat Nova (The Color of Pomegranates). Martin Scorsese introduced the film and accepted the 2014 Parajanov-Vartanov Institute Award for championing the restoration of Parajanov’s masterpiece.
