Iosifovich

Sergei Parajanov‘s father Iosif (in Russian), Hovsep (in Armenian) or Joseph (in English) was an antique dealer in Tbilisi (Tiflis). Here Sergei Parajanov and his mother Siran pose with the portrait of Iosif. According to Mikhail Vartanov, Sergei told him that Siran had torn this portrait of Iosif during some old argument. As we can see, Sergei found a brilliant way to “unite” or re-unite everything many years later in his trademark “collage” style.
