Marcos Grigorian (5 December 1925 – 27 August 2007)
The legendary filmmaker Sergei Parajanov and the Armenian-American-Iranian artist, gallerist and actor Marcos Grigorian (Մարկոս Գրիգորեան, Маркос Григорян, مارکو گريگوريان) met during the former’s visit with his film Ashik Kerib to the New York Film Festival in 1988. In 1995, Marcos Grigorian also met Parajanov’s best friend, the documentary filmmaker Mikhail Vartanov during the latter’s visit to the US with his film Parajanov: The Last Spring, which premiered at the San Francisco International Film Festival.
