Lavrenti Davtyan (Lavrenty Davtian, Лаврентий Давтян)

Lavrenti Davtyan was a close friend of Mikhail Vartanov. Lavrenty worked with Vartanov on Parajanov: The Last Spring (1992) and The Mulberry (1979), which was directed by their close mutual friend Gennadi Melkonian. Lavrenti was born on December 5, 1946, and was a highly respected member of Armenfilm Studio. He tragically passed away in a hit and run accident while crossing a street in Armenia’s capital in the mid 2000s. Mikhail Vartanov had always said that Davtyan’s dedication, and his ability to accomplish the most difficult tasks, was unsurpassed by any of his colleagues.
