Costa Diagne was the classmate of Mikhail Vartanov at the legendary Moscow Film Institute (VGIK) in the early 1960s. In 1965, Costa Diagne and Mikhail Vartanov made a black and white documentary Men Of the Dance (The Monologue of the Mask) which was their graduate diploma film. It was narrated by Rodion Nakhapetov (Nahapetov). This student film won festival awards and was noted by Moscow’s top newspapers.
