Costa Diagne was the classmate of Mikhail Vartanov at the legendary Moscow Film Institute (VGIK) in the early 1960s. In 1965, Costa Diagne and Mikhail Vartanov made an award-winning black and white documentary Men Of the Dance (The Monologue of the Mask) which was their graduate diploma film created as a response to Statues Also Die (a short documentary by Alain Resnais and Chris Marker). Men of the Dance was narrated by Rodion Nakhapetov (Nahapetov) and was noted by Moscow’s leading newspapers.
I’ve been looking for information on Costa Diagne (Costades Diagne) for many years and found almost no mention of him online. If you have any information, please contact us.
