I Will Wear Your Beret Papa is a photographic requiem by Martiros Vartanov for Mikhail Vartanov (1937-2009). The black and white photographs document the arrival of Parajanov: The Last Spring and its helmer to the premiere in Spain in winter of 2007 to unveil Sergei Parajanov‘s life to the Spaniards. The images capture Mikhail Vartanov in his famous beret on the streets of Pamplona, as well as his meetings there with Andrei Tarkovsky’s sister Marina Tarkovsky (Tarkovskaya), Russian directors Aleksandr Gordon and Herz Frank, and Jean Vigo‘s daughter Luce Vigo. The exhibition opened at the Condestable Palace in Spain in February of 2010 and in April of 2010 the photographs were also exhibited at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
