Russian photographer Viktor Bazhenov (Виктор Баженов) 1939-2023 captured lots of memorable images of the genius Armenian filmmaker Sergei Parajanov. We often like to point out also that Parajanov usually “directed/choreographed” many of the moments for the photographers willing to capture him with their cameras. While there is a significant number of such wonderful still photographs, any filmed documentary material of Parajanov is extremely rare: the most notable example is of Parajanov posing for Vartanov‘s movie camera for the (censored) documentary The Color of Armenian Land, created during the filming of the The Color of Pomegranates.
